Students studying Animal Management at Cronton Sixth Form had their learning brought to life on a fascinating visit to Chester Zoo to witness different animal behaviours as part of a future course module.

As well as enjoying seeing the various animals on show at the zoo, the trip was a brilliant opportunity for the keen students to observe normal and abnormal animal behaviours in captivity, leading on perfectly for an upcoming Animal Behaviour module that the students will complete.

The group also had the opportunity to carry out more behavioural research on both solitary and social species giving them invaluable knowledge that can be taken back into the classroom.

Keelie Macdonald, Programme Area Leader for Animal Management said, “We had a fantastic day, all of the students really enjoyed it. It’s great having one of the best zoos in the country on our doorstep!”
