Cronton College has been host to the Halton heats of the MerseySTEM Robotics Challenge; an event that pits local schools against each other in a robot building exercise that challenges problem solving skills and tests engineering, science and design principles knowledge.
The challenge saw pupils from local schools take part in a full-day event, building their robots in the morning then fielding them into battle in the afternoon. Teams from Ormiston Chadwick Academy, Wade Deacon High School, The Grange School, Ormiston Bolingbroke Academy and The Heath School combined with MerseySTEM representatives to help with the build of the robots. Once complete, the teams then put their robots into battle against each other in the Robot Wars arena.
After a hard fought afternoon of competing, Ormiston Chadwick Academy beat all competitors to retain the title and earn a place in the Liverpool City Region Grand Final later in the school year, where they will be competing against schools across the Merseyside region.
